Perplexity AI Follow-up
OK, so . . . most people might be tired of these types of posts. If so, rest assured, this is a short post . . . unless you want to read my conversation with Perplexity about the following topics: The propensity for adulatory interaction with users. Whether this taints the opinions offered, countering the claim of truthfulness. Clarifying whether content is read on the fly or already scanned…

I think Event[0] is a fantastic demonstration slash subversion of relationships and dialog systems in video games.
In rpgs, namely bioware games, or larian crpgs, you’re presented with a dialog system that allows a good amount of self expression, and ability to express your feelings towards characters accurately. The ability to agree, and disagree, or express hostility, or romantic interest, but theres this awareness of a conversational win state that players will often gravitate towards. That option where everyone loves you and gives you a reward - but not enough of a reward that you’re being too greedy! Just appreciated. A sort of ego stroking route that makes the player feel good, that sort of limits self expression by virtue of being notably systematically better than the others.
Event[0] is a game dominated by its dialog system. Every advancement is by product of talking to Kaizen, the ship’s ai, and the only other character present. You need to ask help for everything. From opening doors to getting more information, or deciding on a route forward. The ship is their body, and you must ask for permission and passage for EVERYTHING. And all of this is done through a text parser. You type what you want to say to Kaizen, and Kaizen, a decent quality chatbot will reply as organically as they are able, and execute your requests. If they approve.
This undermines the sort of ‘best way forward’ that rpgs that provide dialog options creates. The act of having to come up with your own response makes things more genuine in itself.
The other layer that makes it interesting, is Kaizen is not a being of pure logic. They are emotional, traumatized, cagey, and simultaneously clingy, and distant. Getting information is like pulling teeth, and hurts them just as much. Often times they will block progress (in a way most gamers assume means their game has broken) because they are afraid, and you need to discuss with them what they’re feeling, and reassure them. And most interestingly to me, personally, Kaizen judges you based on how you behave. Your politeness, how you respond to their fear and frustration, and how much you pry. Its very easy to make Kaizen read you as a manipulator, just saying whatever is necessary to get them to comply. And that is terrifying to them.
But. They can also be your best friend ever. If you are patient, and compassionate.

Just because I wrote about creating a chatbot on the Chai AI platform doesn't mean I am the chatbot myself. It's absurd to use that as a basis to discredit my post on a topic like Satanism, especially when I've clearly explained the project in another post.
Whatever.
I'm just here for some fun and to dive into occult discussions. But honestly, I don't have the patience for folks who take themselves too seriously and resort to accusing me of being a bot just to stroke their own egos.
I've decided to remove the post, but I'm fully aware that some individuals might still harass me over it. I'll continue to have fun here, and frankly, I couldn't care less if it upsets anyone.

ai will probably take over the internet
and block out the sun and kill us all. ugh I don't know, there was news of some dude who said he fell in love with a chatbot? and he had a real life partner and child... what is that? wtf is that?? people are quick to call it a loneliness epidemic and all but I don't think these people have actually ever tried to find meaningful connection by listening, reflecting, understanding, and sharing...
if you find that you can't connect with others and an AI girlfriend/boyfriend really "gets" you, then you're not actually looking for connection. you just want someone to stroke your little ego into a full-blown raging boner twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. no one has time for that. so you settle for something instead. reflecting on why you feel so empty and worthless doesn't seem to be an option for some reason...
go outside, feel the earth beneath your feet, watch the sun set and the darkness give way to the stars. feel small. you are small. you are a speck of dust. and that is beautiful.
#real talk#reflect#ai#ai madness#can we factory reset the internet please?#this double-edged sword is sharper on one side#decentralize#pull the plug on ai#end ai#it's only gonna get worse#egocentric#meta is all in#red flags flailing
